Merry Samhain -- LOTD

Well hello thar! What's it been like...5 months? I suck.

I've been attempting to learn how to use PS. I have to give major props to anyone that knows how to use PS. After 2 hours and lots of hair pulling and Google-ing, I think I did pretty decent for my first try.




Anyways here is a look I threw together for today. Halloween (aka Samhain) is my favorite time of year. I only wish I had as cute of a costume IRL that i do ISL, but I don't. Sad day.

Leaving the Nest

So I log in yesterday to see that my bestie is moving to her own land. Sad day. However, she made it up to me by letting me take some pics of us in some SUPER cute clothing before she started packing.  She showed me this new (to me) store called MichaMi. OMFG this store has so much cute stuff in it i thought I was going to explode! I bought one of everything, seriously.




Then we got bored with looking classed up and decided to play around for a bit in the bedroom... ;)



I'm going to miss my bestie-neighbor, but I am super happy that I'll have a new place to hang out at. /me tps to her house to ask to borrow a cup of sugar. :P

Procrastination Blog - LOTD 5/8/11

I really should be working on my finals for class, but I'm a procrastinator so the motivation isn't going to come until the last minute. lol. Take last night for instance...this pic below is of what I did for an hour before bed..ya know..instead of studying.. lol. The picture is completely unedited (except for cropping); this includes the cute little Polaroid frame and tinting.. I got the Kari - Komrad HUD a month or so ago after seeing a few people on Plurk talk about it, and it is very easy to use and totally worth the L$!!




I love this shirt from Grixdale!! It's so cute, and only 75L right now for Project Themeory. Paired it with some jeans from (love) and boots from Kao and I think I look super cute. :D The skin is Atomic, and you can only get it at Culture Shock..or. if you're in the Atomic VIP group, you can get a few skins from this line for free this month. I has a sad because after the re brand I left the old group. So i'll just have to be content with this one until the line is released. *sighs all sad like*. I really do like the new lips though, and the cute little button nose. I feel adorable, and the eye-makeup is very subtle and doesn't dominate the face (not that her makeups ever do.) I have to have eyeliner though, so i added the -[AddiCt]-Aki Eyeshadow/liner in white to give my eyes a more dramatic look.

Culture Shock luuurrvee

I love shopping for a cause, can't you tell? Culture Shock  lasts until May 22nd, so if you haven't already gone...you should! It took me a couple days to get in, but when I finally did I knew it was worth the wait!  The proceeds from the event go to Doctors without Borders  (aka Médecins Sans Frontières) , an amazing organization that provides medical care to people around the world.

I love love love the shoes from Zeery; this is actually a new *for me* store. They have some REALLY cute stuff but these shoes are uniquely awesome! iPoke is my go-to place for piercings and tattoos. A girl can never have enough of either, and I'm never disappointed when I shop there! As always, Addict is like..my #1 place to shop...i own the whole store ;)

Love is -THE- Movement

TWLOHA MISSION STATEMENT:

To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide.  TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.

This cause is near and dear to my heart.  I was diagnosed with Depression in 2005. Here is my story. 

 I was always kind of the odd one out, I felt like that weird person that no one seemed to understand. I felt like a stranger in my own body. I was kind of a nerd, and a chubby one at that; at least.. I thought I was chubby. My nose was always buried in a book, and I didn't have the best taste in clothing because my family was quite poor at the time.  In high school, I was definitely not someone who was the prom queen, or even really that  popular. I was known as Veronica's cousin. Veronica was the pretty one, the popular one, the one who always knew the right things to say, had the nicest clothes, and was just plain NICE; she was (AND IS) a good person, my best friend.  I somehow got a boyfriend and life was good for a time. For about 4 years, to be exact.. But shortly after we moved in together when I was 20,  I found myself spiraling downhill. I rarely slept, barely ate, and even doing daily tasks such as showering was a struggle. My fiancée thought it was just because I was lazy and wanted to play SL all day. In a way..he was correct.. My ex was very verbally abusive without meaning to be. I gained a lot of weight during the first couple years we were together and at first he loved it..but then he didn't and would make snide comments about how fat i looked, how i was physically unattractive to him, how he would rather look at porn and..ya know..than be with me. His family hated me, they saw me as a leech because I wasn't employed at the time, his brother was allowed (even encouraged) to make fun of me at every chance he got..he was 13 at the time..and me, a grown adult...I was distant from my own family, who only lived 20 mins away and I hadn't seen them in what felt like was years. Second Life was my outlet, my salvation, and my addiction. We would fight constantly about Second Life, about who I was talking to..what i was doing..why i couldn't just be a normal girlfriend who didn't play computer games all day...From all the verbal abuse, and sometimes physical...I started to feel worthless, a waste of space.  I got to the point where I wanted to end it. Life was just too painful for me to continue. One night, an hour or so after a fight via text, my fiancée at the time came home to find that I was in the bathtub of our apartment with a bottle of sleeping pills and Tylenol on the bathroom counter. Now, I'm not sure if you know this..but Tylenol suicides are very common. Anyway, he called the Ambulance and I was put on suicide watch for 24 hours, after they pumped my stomach, of course. A woman named CeeCee sat with me for the first 12 hours of my suicide watch. Talking to her, and just having someone to listen to me helped a whole lot. I don't think she realized how much of an impact she made on my life just by being there to listen, even if she was paid to be there. 

My name is Shamrawk Bailly, and I am a suicide survivor. Thank god for that. Life is worth living, even when I wanna tear my hair out because it's not going how I want it to..I am worthy of love, even if I haven't quite gotten there yet.

50 of a kind / Pose Fair

Hello fashionistas! This is just a quick blogpost to show off my look of the day. Today an amazing event started. 50 of a kind is the brainchild of Aurora Deischer (owner of Absolution). "A Bi-Weekly event that is limited to 15 amazing designers that will create a new and exclusive item to be sold for 200L or more. The catch to this event? Only 50 copies will be available in world so get them before the sell out!" - 50 of a kind group info.  Sad day for those of us that work 9-5 jobs. There were a few stores that I was totally bummed when i saw it was sold out. I was able to grab this fatpack of dresses (sorry for the lone pick, i crashed because I have shadows turned on for the first time everrrrr - props to Strawberry Singh's easy to use tutorial for LL 2.0 client! ) for myself and my bestie. I LOOOOOOOOOVE this dress.. like..omg.. seriously. And, I'm one of the lucky 50 that get to have it forever. So, if you havent done so yet, DO join the 50 of a kind group and grab the list of SLURLS. Another thing I wanted to touch base on is poses. Pose Fair IS ALMOST HERE. The blogger event started today, but the rest of us can go on April 1st. The pose used was graciously given to me by HopScotch owner, Chandi Khondji. Chandi is such a sweet person to know on plurk, as well as a very talented posemaker. Sorry i was only able to get the one shot! I will try again tomorrow, but wanted to get this all down while I had some motivation :P This pose is from the 'It's J' pose pack.

Pacific Coast Fundraiser

It is so very  heart warming  that in times of tragedy, designers (and the SL community as a whole) can  come together and show such generosity to help our RL world. Everything in the picture above (aside from the lashes, eyes, lip tattoo and shoes) are from the Pacific Crisis Fundraiser. This includes the poses.  5 of Second Life's top posers (Long Awkward Pose, aDORKable Poses, and Exposeur  just to name my faves ;) )  came together and made an aweeesome fatpack of poses just for this event. 

So if you haven't already gone..please do! So far, they've raised over 12 thousand USD. I think that's super amazing. The event runs until April 10th, so you still have plenty of time to get there!

Spring is definitely almost here, I'm wearing dresses!

Happy Humpday! So today I want to talk about this great not-so-little store that I know you've probably heard of....Naith Smit Designs! Along with an amazing jacket (that I will blog SOON) , Naith released 2 different dresses (in a plethora of colors.... I couldnt even choose which ones to blog) I was seriously jumping in my chair when I saw the pics of theses dresses on Naith's Plurk the other day.

The one shown below is called the RiRi Dress! I absolutely LOVE the pattern and the shading and..well..everything! It was also super easy to mod to my sometimes too-curvy shape. I paired it with the PM-Baby T heels in Red to bring out the varying shades of red in the pattern of the dress.

The second dress is called the Summer Lovin Dress. Again, super easy to mod to my shape. Its definitely a flirty cute dress that I cant wait to put together with different looks. I went sans shoes in this pic because (at the time) the dress made me long for the beach and the feel of sand between my toes. And yes, I'm completely aware that system feet are not all that attractive. :P

LOTD 2/20/2011

I love lazy rainy Sundays. There's something about the rain that makes me want to spend all day in bed reading while listening to mellow music, or watching old movies with a big bowl of popcorn. The downside of the rain this weekend is that it's completely messed up my internet. It took me a good 30 mins to take these pics, simply because my internet kept crashing. As you can see, the end result was kind of worth it for me (pardon my crappy pic editing! Although, the pics arent as grainy as they were before thanks to a great friend who explained how to make my graphics card settings override SL settings!).

I have to say I love  this new  hair from Magika. You cant see it, but the hair is actually quite long in the back. I saw it on someone last night and had to run to Magika to pick it up. It was simply too cute to pass up.
Because my internet is messing up, I'm going to post this before it crashes again!

Paisley goes to a party

It's not very often that I get invited out. Most days, I just bum around my home watching old episodes of soaps while playing with different looks in-world. With Valentines day just 2 days away, I really didnt feel like hanging around the general public. But, last week I was invited by my friend Ruby to her 'love yourself, fuck everyone else' party sponsored by the SLuicide Girls. Now, the SLuicide Girls are some bad ass women with major fashion skills. Nothing at all like my style and I didn't want to stick out like a sore thumb at this event.




The day of the party, I started out the day as I always do - doing yoga. Then, I spent about 4 hours shopping for *the* perfect look. I must have gone to 30 stores and spent 9k before I finally found something that felt like me.



After I was dressed, I practiced my dancing skills. I haven't gone out in ages and didn't want to get a charlie horse while surrounded by strangers. There is nothing more embarrassing than getting a kink in your hips and falling flat on your face.



Satisfied with my look and moves, I looked at the clock. Still 2 hours to go until the party. Sighing, I decided to take a nap. Shopping and dancing took a lot out of me, and I still had hours of dancing ahead of me.

Seasons Hunt Faves Day 1

Rather than try to fit everything I like so far into one blog, I've decided to do a few days worth of blogs. Now whether or not I'll actually stick to this goal is up in the air. I may have a date tomorrow *grin*, plus there were a few stores that I couldnt' find the location of the snowman! The Seasons Hunt lasts from Jan 15th to Jan 29th. If you havent done this hunt yet, you really should start. Many well known stores (and some that i'd never heard of before ) are participating, and everything I've looked at so far has not disappointed. Ok now onto the pics.

First I'd like to talk about the tattoo layer makeups that were offered by many different awesome stores. What's shown below: Kyoot's  Cateye Winter 1 and PIDIDDLE's Chapped Lips. Both stores offered several different tattoo layers, but I thought these two suited the outfit better. The eyes are also from the hunt, and are from Sur+. They are called aurora borealis, and i kinda dig em. A nice change from my usual caramel brown eyes. :)



The pic below displays one of the poses offered from Olive Juice, the skybox from True Love Never Dies, and the dress from Fall Into Decay (a store I hadnt heard of till this hunt! :) ) . I took the pic by the window because it seemed artsy-fartsy. :P



The final pic is of one of the poses from skin & bones (there are 6 poses total, 3 flat foot, and 3 en pointe) , and the chaise lounge from Art Dummy. It comes with 2 different sit locations, and 6 poses total (3 per location). I would've sat on it to show you all what poses they were, but dresses + sitting = ugly



Anyways, it's almost bedtime for me; but I hope you do decide to do this hunt! Lots of nahmmy things to grab, and you may just discover a store that will become a favorite :).
